Teaching at
Bridges Academy.
A later chapter in Don’s musical life: teaching guitar, jazz, blues, and music theory to students at Bridges Academy.
Don Peake is part of the music program at Bridges Academy. His teaching work gives students a chance to learn from someone who has spent decades moving between guitar, arranging, recording, and film and television scoring.
In a public school feature, Don works with advanced music theory students on prepared piano. The demonstration uses everyday objects placed inside the instrument to change its sound, turning a music lesson into a hands-on look at timbre, resonance, and composition.
Bridges has also featured Don in music programming with other members of the Wrecking Crew, including Don Randi and Chuck Berghofer. It is a good fit for the way Don has always worked: music as a shared practice, passed from one player to another.
Prepared piano lesson
Advanced music theory students learn from Don’s demonstration of prepared piano.
